Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino 2012

Underbrush, grilled herb, new leather and spiced plum aromas lead the nose of this chewy Brunello. The palate doles out juicy black cherry, raspberry compote, licorice and pipe tobacco notes, framed by robust, fine-grained tannins. Despite the powerful structure and hefty alcohol, it has elegance.

Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino 2010

Pale ruby with broad orange rim. Savoury, minerally nose that is a little closed on the fruit. Elegant, transparent palate, almost Burgundian in style and with cherry and hints of dried fruit. Muscular tannins that never overwhelm the fruit. Distinct and original.

Drink 2018-2030 17.5

Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino, Vigna Fonte Lattaia 2010

Mid ruby with broad orange rim. Complex balsamic nose with a hint of cardamom, but doesn’t look like this comes from oak. Supple and sleek and with polished, firm tannins on the finish. Would love to see this with more age.

Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino, Vigna Pian Bossolino 2010

Just mid ruby with bricky rim. Perfumed cherry nose with notes of garden herbs and a hint of cardamom. Lots of ripe fruit on the palate matched by rich, grainy tannins. Not ready by far and something for Barolo lovers. Long and complex finish with lots to chew on.

Score 93

Shows balance and integration and a dark, inky appearance. Blackber- ry, plum cake, cinnamon bun, leath- er and tobacco aromas. Chewy, ripe mouthfeel frames plush fruit, while the dusty, structured finish features loads of dried tobacco leaf.

A distinctive wine with firm, brooding notes of black fruit, kirsch and dried Mediterranean herbs. This is a fine-grained and elegant wine with chiseled graphite nuances and rock-solid tannins. It has great potential.

Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino 2011

The wine surprised me for its elegance and pretty mineral notes that characterize it. If you are looking to venture off the beaten track far beyond the most recognized Brunello brands, I  highly recommend this estate. The wines deliver abundant grace and poise and evolve beautifully in the glass.Clean and steady with a medium garnet color and lean appearance. Focused on aromatic purity with wild cherry, cola, blue flower and moist earth that add a natural and genuine feel. Very subtle tones of tar and ash fill in the rear.

Wonderful aromas of ripe fruit such as plums, and grilled meat. Then it shows fresh soil and sliced mushroom. Full body with super-silky tannins and beautiful fruit. Balanced and spicy on the finish. A beauty.

Here’s a Brunello that opens with notes of black fruit, forest berry, cherry cola and exotic spice. This is a harmonious and traditional wine that reflects many of the elegant characteristics of the beautiful Tuscan territory that shaped it.

SOLISTA SYRAH Indicazione Geografica Tipica TOSCANA 2005

92 Gismondi Wine

Lots of smoky, licorice, meaty, peppery, floral, black cherry, tobacco leaf, savoury, spicy, cooked carrot aromas. Dry, somewhat tannic palate with good acid- ity and concentration if a bit austere right now. Black cherry, spicy, mineral, plum, licorice root, savoury, clove, floral, smoked meat, roasted pepper flavours. Good finesse and elegance for syrah, needs 2-5 years or try with roast lamb. Grown in a chalky soil at low elevation in Montalcino.

Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino 2009

Score 90

Mario Bollag’s 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is a pretty, opulent offering that is loaded tight with earthy sensations, dried cherry, tobacco, barbecue smoke, bacon fat and even a fragrant touch of crushed rose. The wine is already very open and accessible, and should be consumed in the not too distant future. There’s a tight, biting quality to the tannin that should relax shortly.”

92 Points

The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Terralsole reveals a gorgeous, centered core of dark red fruit. This is a relatively understated Brunello with a taut, yet delicate personality and enough vibrancy to develop nicely for a number of years.”

Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.
