The Essence of Sangiovese from Montalcino
At Terralsole, we believe great wine begins in the vineyard. Our organic, sustainable practices and focus on balance allow us to capture the true character of Sangiovese Grosso in each vintage. From the cooler, elevated Pian Bossolino to the warmer Fonte Lattaia, our vineyards provide the perfect conditions to create elegant, complex wines.Each year, we release our signature Brunello Annata, a harmonious blend of Sangiovese from both vineyards that reflects the depth and balance of Montalcino’s terroir. In exceptional years, we craft a Brunello Riserva, hand-selecting the finest grapes for a wine that showcases richness and concentration. For particularly expressive vintages, we also produce limited single-vineyard crus from either Vigna Pian Bossolino or Vigna Fonte Lattaia, highlighting the distinct character of each site.Our Rosso di Montalcino, often called Brunello’s “little brother,” offers a softer, more approachable expression of Sangiovese, while still retaining the complexity and elegance that define our wines.
Aging and Craftsmanship
While Brunello di Montalcino requires a minimum of five years of aging, at Terralsole we believe that ten years is the ideal starting point for truly elegant Brunello. We use exclusively French oak barrels—a combination of 600-liter tonneaux and custom 5,500-liter large-format barrels crafted in Sicily from imported French oak. This approach allows for slow, even maturation, enhancing the wine’s depth and complexity with every vintage.
Brunello di Montalcino Annata
Our Brunello Annata is the cornerstone of Terralsole, released every year as a reflection of balance and harmony. Made from a blend of Sangiovese Grosso from both Pian Bossolino and Fonte Lattaia, it captures the essence of each vintage. This classic Brunello is known for its elegant structure, with rich layers of cherry, spice, and earthy complexity, making it a beautifully balanced wine in every vintage.
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Our Brunello Riserva is a special selection of the finest grapes from our vineyards, chosen only in the best vintages. Handpicked and meticulously crafted, the Riserva represents the pinnacle of our winemaking. Aged longer and made from only the most exceptional barrels, this wine is rich, concentrated, and deeply complex. Its decadent flavors and structure are designed for long aging, offering an unforgettable experience with each sip.
Brunello Single Vineyard Crus
In particularly expressive vintages, we bottle single-vineyard cru Brunellos from either Vigna Fonte Lattaia or Vigna Pian Bossolino, or sometimes both. These crus offer a more focused expression of each vineyard’s unique character, allowing the individual terroirs to shine. Whether it’s the cooler, high-altitude finesse of Pian Bossolino or the warm richness of Fonte Lattaia, each single-vineyard Brunello represents the purest expression of its site.
Rosso di Montalcino
Often referred to as “Brunello’s little brother,” Rosso di Montalcino shares many of the flavor profiles of Brunello but is crafted for earlier enjoyment. Made from Sangiovese selected for its softer tannins and approachable structure, Rosso offers bright fruit and subtle spice. Aged for a minimum of two years, it’s an elegant yet easy-drinking wine that’s perfect for those looking for a taste of Montalcino without the extended aging requirements of Brunello.
